The NYC Foundation for the South is a nonprofit rooted in New York City, built to uplift southern communities through fundraising events and connection. The branding was designed to embody this duality, blending the warmth and nostalgia of the South with the sharp, modern spirit of NYC. To achieve this, I paired a rough sans serif font with a hand-drawn script, striking a balance between rustic texture and contemporary edge. The magnolia, Mississippi’s state flower and the founder’s home symbol, serves as the visual anchor, placed within a postage stamp motif to evoke memory and belonging. The result is a brand that feels both professional and heartfelt, honoring the South’s heritage while thriving in the city that now carries its story forward.
